At one point in gaming history, Nintendo and Sony had a brief partnership. The partnership began when Ken Kutaragi became interested in video games, he eventually signed a contract to developed hardware that would drive the audio subsystems of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). The partnership would also give the console both cartridge and compact disc support.
There was some dispute over control of the licensing. Under the agreement, Sony would develop and retain control over the SNES-CD disc format. To counter this, Nintendo negotiated an agreement with Philips. During the E3 press conference of 1991, Nintendo announced it's partnership with Philips, outraging Sony and Ken Kutaragi. This spurred Sony into building the PlayStation to compete with Nintendo's system.
Recently, photos have been appearing on the internet from one of the sons of the executives of Sony. Essentially showing the prototype of the system that Sony and Nintendo were working on before the partnership collapsed. Images below are of the prototype that have been shown. I find this system to be very nerdgasmic, because this is perhaps the only prototype of the system.

Xbox One Backward Compatibility
This is actually rather old news, however, I've been pretty busy lately so I haven't been able to update the blog. Xbox One is now backward compatible with Xbox 360 games. This actually reminds me of when the Xbox 360 became backward compatible with the Original Xbox games. Not all the games will be backward compatible, but if you submit a game you'd like to play, Microsoft will work on making it compatible.
The list so far for Xbox 360 games available to play on Xbox One is rather dismal. It is currently about 21 games. If you are interested in seeing which games are available, click here. I hope to see more games coming up for backward compatibility. I'll keep an eye out and will update you whenever there is more added.
